Nager Investments Ltd brings together world-class expertise and an unwavering commitment to sustainability. The company’s mission is to unlock Malawi’s vast rare earth potential, positioning the country as a key player in the global transition towards clean energy and advanced technologies.
By harnessing the rich mineral resources of the T/A Malemia area in Nsanje district in Malawi, our aim is to establish a state-of-the-art rare earth mining and processing operation. The project site, spanning 58 square kilometers, boasts substantial rare earth deposits capable of supporting an annual production of approximately 8,000 tons of rare earth oxides (REO) over 30 year mine life.

Rare earths importance
Rare earth elements (REEs) are aptly nicknamed the “seeds of technology.” These fascinating elements are the hidden heroes behind countless innovations, from the miniaturization of electronics in your pocket to the powerful green technologies driving a sustainable future. They’re also crucial for defense systems, telecommunications, and transportation networks we rely on every day.
REEs possess a unique combination of magnetic, phosphorescent, and catalytic properties. In permanent magnets, for instance, they deliver a dramatic boost in magnetic strength, impacting a wide range of applications.
While the name might suggest scarcity, REEs are actually a group of 17 elements found on the periodic table. This group includes the 15 Lanthanides, along with Scandium and Yttrium. Scandium and yttrium are included because they share similar properties with the Lanthanides, like being malleable with high melting and boiling points. All REEs are considered metals, and a unique subshell containing f-electrons grants them their magnetic and luminescent magic.
